What do you do when you have 500,000 beer bottle caps? I made Christmas ornaments 🙂 Yes, it’s true, I made Christmas ornaments out of beer bottle caps. And later, we will be making beer caps on a string (like popcorn on a string but with beer caps). It will be totally awesome.
Last year we had a little 7 inch tree that we placed on a stool with a black curtain around it, and put our Christmas presents around the store. It was cute and simple and it worked for us. This year, T.J.’s sister and brother in law gave us a little 4 foot tree, but we don’t have any ornaments. One day a few weeks ago I had a brilliant idea; let’s make bottle caps on a string. T.J. thought it was an amazing idea. I shared this idea with the girls on girls night and Hill said I should make ornaments. So I did 🙂
A hot glue gun, 12 beer caps for each ornament you are planning on making. Styrofoam balls, we went with about 4 inch balls, they’re not too big or too small so they will work for pretty much any size tree. I suggest more ornaments if you have a larger tree than ours. Some flowers with leaves, Christmas looking, some berries, or other Christmasy type thing to fill in the white spaces between the caps. Christmas ornament hooks.
Take one ball and one cap and push the caps into the Styrofoam until it sticks. Fill the ball. 6 caps around the middle, 3 caps on the top of the ball and 3 on the bottom. Then stab your little ornament hook into the top if the ball. Then fill in the white space with either Christmasy flowers, berries or leaves. I used my leaves as a little base on the bottom of the ball.
